New parents

Whether your child is about to start school or is changing schools, or whether you are merely taking your bearings, we are happy to provide you with more information. You are always more than welcome to visit our school. It is advisable to make an appointment, so we can make time available for a conversation. To make an appointment, please call us at 071 – 51 77 060. Schoolchildren will give you a guided tour of the school, showing you the entire schoolbuilding and providing you some background information. 

Besides this, we have an ‘open house’ once a year in March. On that day you can visit the school without an appointment. We start registering children from age 2 onwards, hoping to prevent any build-up of waitinglists.

Registration

Applying to the school requires you to fill in a registration form. Afterwards your registration will be confirmed by the school. Two months prior to when your child reaches the age of four, you will receive notice in which group your child has been placed and an invitation for an introductory meeting with the teacher. During this meeting we can agree what the best way is for your child to get to know, and adept to, the class. You will also receive a registration code for the Social Schools App which is used by the school for communicating with parents. 

To regulation class sizes and to maintain our educational standards of quality, we have placement policy. If all classes are full, children will be added to the waiting list in order of application.

Drop-off and pick-up

In our Montessori vision we consider it important that all children have their lunches at school. Lunchtime is organised in collaboration with the Stichting Kinderopvang Oegstgeest is our school. The children have their lunches in their classroom together with their schoolteacher and a teacher of the SKO. After lunch the children play outside, under the supervision of the SKO. There are costs involved with this lunchtime arrangement. The amount of the contribution is determined annually. The arrangements for lunchtime are described in the document “Het overblijfplan Montessorischool”. This document can be requested from the school board. Payment of the lunchtime contribution fee is done by preauthorised debit, to minimise the administrative burden. Upon registering your child(ren) you are requested to sign the “Overeenkomst Overblijfvoorziening”.

The SKO is situated in the same building as the school. Children attending the after-school care of the SKO are collected in school and escorted to the different SKO rooms. Older children are collected in school but go to another location more suited for older children.

Swimming

At the start of the school year the children of groups 3-4 and 5-6 start their school swimming classes in Poelmeer swimming pool. Children of group 3-4 have weekly swimming lessons, whilst children of group 5-6 have bi-weekly swimming lessons, alternating with PE (sports) lessons. Within Social Schools you will find lists on which parents can register for accompanying the children to the swimming pool and to assist in the dressing rooms. We need your help for this. You are then allowed to view the swimming lesson at the pool. The children bring their swim suits and a towel. Goggles are not permitted. If your child has ear problems and needs ear plugs when swimming, please inform your child’s teacher.

Children who participate in school swimming lessons are allowed to swim for free throughout the school year, also on Wednesday afternoons.
